Virtual Training for Housing Discrimination Testing Program

Fair housing opens doors. The work to promote equal access to housing, to encourage open communities, and end discrimination is ongoing. The Fair Housing Project (FHP) of NH Legal Assistance, a statewide non-profit law firm providing civil legal services to low-income New Hampshire residents, will be holding a virtual training for area people to become involved in this work as fair housing testers.

Testers are individuals who are trained to act as prospective tenants seeking rental housing and to gather information on possible housing discrimination.

Successful testers are committed to justice, detailed observers, good writers/typists, and punctual. Being involved in the testing program is also a way to learn new skills, meet interesting people, and work on an exciting civil rights project.

Testers receive a flat fee of $150 for the training once a practice test is completed, and $18/hr. afterwards. Testers are independent contractors, participate in 2-4 tests a year and are critical to ending housing discrimination.

Please contact Liliana at 603-261-2851 or lneumann@nhla.org to RSVP a seat and confirm attendance for this training session. Once you have registered, we will email you a link to the virtual training and the materials for the training a few days before its scheduled date.
